This matcha bowl comes to us from Mitch Iburg of Studio Alluvium. Mitch specializes in foraging local clays and making one-of-a-kind pieces from it. He recently partnered with us to create several matcha bowls, and this is one of them!

The clay for this chawan comes from Springfield, MN, where it was used for brick production by Minnesota’s last brick manufacturer, Acme-Ochs Brick & Tile, Co. 

Made from clays hand-dug by the artist from various locations throughout Minnesota. Mitch tests all of his clay for heavy metals and other contaminants to ensure they are food safe.
