Mitch Iburg
Hand Made Glacial Clay with Oak Ash Matcha Bowl
Couldn't load pickup availability
This matcha bowl comes to us from Mitch Iburg of Studio Alluvium. Mitch specializes in foraging local clays and making one-of-a-kind pieces from it. He recently partnered with us to create several matcha bowls, and this is one of them!
This chawan is made from a mix of glacial clay and ball clay, and given an oak ash glaze. The rougher look of this clay perfectly captures the spirit of wabi-sabi that is so central to Japanese tea culture.Â
Made from clays hand-dug by the artist from various locations throughout Minnesota. Mitch tests all of his clay for heavy metals and other contaminants to ensure they are food safe.
3.75" Diameter.Â
