I've been drinking matcha for about a year now and I've purchased tea from many different companies just to see what's out there. But I keep coming back to River and Stone. It's really the best. This time I purchased the matcha sampler and so far I've only opened the Somada Okumidori. I can see why it's one of their best sellers! It's smooth yet distinct and like all River and Stone teas, tastes really fresh. I'm looking forward to trying the other cultivars in the sampler.
This was a wild experience because even though I knew it would taste different than matcha, my brain still had certain expectations and the disconnect took a moment to process. It was a whole journey of discovery in a small cup.
This tastes like a delicious loose leaf brew, but with added creaminess from the frothing. It has a sour-sweet note with floral tones that is maybe comparable to yuzu or Meyer lemon. It's bright and has a supporting sweetness that is really pleasant.
There's also really nice herbal/vegetal layer. It's not grassy at all. It reminds me of when you open a sandalwood fan. Again, there's a sweetness to it that I find intriguing and compelling.
And there's also a deep spice note that makes me think of mulling spices. It tastes like someone with a very even hand has added a flavored syrup for the holidays, but it's just the tea being amazing.
I highly recommending trying this, especially if you like teas like red oolong or oriental beauty.
This is a great tea! Very mellow flavor, but still with all the ritual of traditional matcha. Smooth and pleasant.
I bought two Ceremonial Samplers, one as a gift and the other for me! It's such a great way to try different matcha. Each one has a wonderful distinctive flavor. It makes a great gift for a fellow matcha lover and for yourself!
I travel for work a lot and this makes it so easy to have good quality matcha no matter where I end up! I never have to give up quality as I can take it anywhere with me!

Very smooth and creamy bright green matcha with light floral notes with lots of umami. Definitely, the best Gokuo I had.

I am a big matcha drinker a this is some of the best I have ever tried it is very green and does not have a strong taste it is mild and delicious. I keep going back for more and more:)
I am very much an uneducated, matcha enthusiast. So far I have moved every kind of matcha I’ve come into contact with but recently wanted to start upping my at-home matcha game. I didn’t know where to start and came across this company and thought the only thing that made sense was to try out a few different kinds. I really loved them all- so much better than what I was buying at my local grocery store. Each time I prepared the different matchas, it was the best matcha I had ever made. My favorite of the three was Okumidori, then Asahi, and then the Samidori. Looking forward to trying more!
The chawan is on the smaller side, but it's perfect for me. I use it to mix and drink my matcha.

Incredibly fresh, and a great green color! Has a strong enough flavor that, even when mixed with milk and flavors, you can still taste the matcha!

This okumidori has the signature nutty note but not too strong. Fruity and smooth background
